9.20pm! The latest I've stayed up all week!

Yes, it is 9.20, and this is the latest I've stayed up all week! Whoooot! And it will only get later from here!

Yeah, pretty much every night, I'm in bed by 8.30, but NOT TONIGHT.

Tonight we went to see "Night at the Museum." I already saw it (after I got my tattoo), but I enjoyed seeing it again, since it is such a nice, funny movie. Nathalie, Adam and Arianne loved it! So, that was fun too! We also went out to eat at McDonald's tonight <3333 Yum!

Today at work was pretty boring. I worked on that bloody Vancouver Protocol for 4 hours this morning, and it's STILL not done. I don't want to be negative, but I have a feeling it will NEVER be done!

It is exactly one week from today until I am going home for my 48 hours! I am so psyched! One week from this exact moment, I will be boarding a plane to Calgary at the Vancouver International Airport! Which, as I may have mentioned, I don't remember, makes me mad! Why fly me out to Vancouver, and then back to Calgary? It's making my flight one hour and fifty-four minutes longer than it has to be! Grrrrrr. And it means I won't get into Calgary until midnight! Silly WestJet! Also, my layover is only 25 minutes or something, so my Kelowna-Vancouver flight BETTER NOT BE DELAYED because that's not as much time as I would like!!! Ah well, the snow has been melting pretty fast, and hopefully it will stay clear, which would mean no bad weather!

Speaking of the snow clearing, it's SnowFest in Kelowna! Tonight they had a big dance on Bernard, but obviously, I didn't go! I hope to catch some of the festivities this weekend though! If we were all living at the house this week, we'd totally be there! But, ah well, my billets are still charming, and maybe I'll just have to use SnowFest as an excuse to come visit next January! Ha ha, there's an idea!

Well, that's all I can really think of to say! Ooer, it's now 9.28.... a NEW RECORD!

'Kay, I can't take this anymore, I'm exhausted. Goodnight.

Updates on my Housemates!

I'm going to make this quick because I have to leave for work momentarily.

- Anny and Alex are living with HARE KRISHNAS!!!!!! Wikipedia it!
- Jade is living with, to quote her, "two old people. They are very... quiet. I learn to knit." Ha ha ha, I love you Jade-girl!
- Gwobs is with Ruth, who is apparently THE BEST COOK IN THE WORLD.
- Joelle's family has an older son, and they took here NINJA TUBING! It's where you drive around with crazy carpets, and if you see a pile of snow, you yell a key word, and then everyone jumps out, crazy carpets down the snow, and jumps back into the car! We are SO playing when we get home (to Calgary, I mean).
- Nick #1 is living in a HUGE house in the Misson!

That's all I know about people I've talked to (Nick), work with (Anny), heard of through someone I work with (Alex, from Anny), bumped into in the street (Jade, outside of Shoppers) or had lunch with/visited at the French Cultural Center (Joelle and Gwobs).

So... yeah! LATER!

Snow Bunny? And other billeting stories.

So, I'm at billeting. For those of you who are unsure what that is, it is when our lovely Katima-group is all split up and put with families in the community. Or, in my case, just outside of it. My family is really great so far! There's Nathalie and Andre, and their kids Adam (8) and Arianne (6).

My first day here, we went skiing.

You can imagine how that went.

Okay, so I'm not a ski bunny, and yes, the bunny hill was terrifying, but my instructor said I was "really getting the hang of it," ...before I fell, did the splits and pulled the majority of the muscles in my legs! Mon dieu. Luckily I did think to grab Le Coolie Leg Creme de Lissa before I left home, so that was a big help today. And I did have fun through the pain! It's definitely something I would like to try again, since I am a great believer in the-first-time-is-always-the-worst-time.

Another reason I love it here: I go to bed early-ish, because the kids do, so there's not much to do after that, and then.... I sleep in late! Ahhhh, you don't appreciate sleeping in until you've been in Katimavik. Also, watching TV is... BORING! Oh my God, I should have stopped sooner! When I get back to Calgary, I am ONLY watching 'The Office,' because the rest of the shows on tele are NOT NECESSARY!!! Thanks once again to Katimavik for changing my ways. (Insert annoying poster-girl smile and thumbs up here).

Alas, the sleeping late has come to an end, however, because the drive from Westbank to Kelowna takes almost 45 minutes, which means leaving at 7.15am! At home, I often don't wake up until 7.30! And my new hours will be 8am-4pm just for the 2 weeks, so that will be alright...(instead of 8.30-4.30 like at home).

Yeahhh... I'm confusing myself with the term 'at home,' a lot lately. I mean, where is home, exactly? 'Home,' is like... Calgary, a place that I'm from, and will return to... in seven months (excluding my trip home early February, for 42 hours...). 'Home,' is also that tiny duplex where I live in Kelowna with some of my favourite people in the whole world. Which is not something I would usually say, because they often annoy me. I suppose I'm already having group withdrawl. I'll be happy to see Anny tomorrow and find out how billeting has been for her so far.

Anyway, that's all of interest for right now, I guess. I think I'll go kick back, read a magazine, and recover from the insanity that is NeoPets (which I introduced the kids to this afternoon. Wowza, such enthusiasm!!!).

I suppose I should write once in a while...

Okay, I guess it's time for me to actually write about what's up, rather than just posting pictures and dashing off! Although I do have some excellent pictures of us crazy carpetting (which is like tobogganing for any foreigners that may be reading this!), but they're at home, and I am at work, as it were.

Last night the whole group stayed up very late and had a very serious discussion with another member of our group who was considering leaving. I don't know if she ever made a decision or anything, and to be honest, it didn't seem to make a difference- the person didn't seem to show an interest in most things we said. Who knows how it will turn out in the end.

Joanne (our PL) and Christine (our PC) came to visit Anny and I at work today, and we had a big discussion about it. It was nice to be able to get that out, because sometimes the pressure does build quite quickly.

Tonight we'll be having another big meeting about billeting and other stuff, that I hope won't be as intense as last night's impromptu one, but probably will be close knowing us. We're a group of such stubborn people! In a good way!!! Tomorrow night we have part two of our communication workshop. It's hard to say if we've learned anything yet. I think with yesterday, the majority of us learned a lot, but the person we were speaking with did not.

Friday night we actually start billeting! I'm not going to lie- I'm nervous. But it's also exciting. I'm probably going to miss my housemates quite a bit. And then I'm going home for two days, which will be great, except I'm also afraid that I'll be homesick for Kelowna as well. Ugh, it's so confusing, and probably not very interesting.

Anyway, the office is kind of getting busy for a bit right now, so I'm going to go so it doesn't look like I'm slacking so much, even though Gerry just congraulated me on being able to type without looking at the keyboard! Ha ha.

Thanks for reading you crazy people!

Back in Time....

So, I was flipping through some of Joelle's photos, and found some more pictures of me on New Year's Eve that I thought I should share, so you could see the full effect of my dress. Ha ha.

This is Anny and I at dinner, when my make-up was still in it's full-fledged child beauty pagent star glory, followed by two random pictures of me in the living room and on the stairs, respectively.

So, yeah. I hope you enjoy always looking at pictures of me each time I update!

Not much going on this week! A lot of free time really because this weekend we're doing all our activities. Saturday we're going crazy carpetting and baking in French. Sunday we're volunteering at the XC-skiing loppet at Telemark by Crystal Mountain.

Now, I have to go to work! Booooooo.

Later 'gators!

Durrr, I always have pictures! Mountain Hike Edition.

Okay, before we get to mountains, this is me yielding cleaner, and showing off my pretty white non-latex gloves (thus, the crown):
Here I am with Joanne, during the Risk game last night. She is mad at Gwobs because he was being a Risk jerk. Obviously I quite like my sweater, because today is my third day in a row of wearing it:

This is me near a fence on a mountain, which obviously was a photo op:

Watch Out! Active bears live here!!!:
Ash in the City. Or, above it, actually:

Group shot!:

So, yes, today we climbed a mountain. It was actually pretty! I also made a movie! When it's uploaded I will post a link!!!
Edit:// Oh... oh.... here it is!

Ugh, house manager and yay, home visits!

So, firstly, in response to Lissa's question of booing house manager- the thing is, we don't get to boss people around, instead we get to cook and clean for them! It was pretty weird the first bit, because on the 1st and 2nd everyone was at home still on Xmas break. And yesterday we got a new guy, so that ate up most of my day. But today New Nick is right at it, so the cleaning went much quicker with two of us! Ugh, anyway, house manager blowwws. I hope I don't have to do it again this trimester.

In other happy news! I'm probably going back to Calgary on my 48 hours off!!! I would fly out of here on the 2nd of February, spend Friday night at home, spend Saturday day and night with my family, spend Sunday morning with my family, and fly back Sunday evening. It's a little bit expensive for just a weekend, but I really want to do it. Especially since I'll be going across the country for the next 6 months. And I've been kind of homesick lately. The only downside will be not seeing any of my group (except Anny because we work together) since the 48hours is attached to billeting. So, I wouldn't see them from the 19th of January until the 4th of February. Ah well, I'll see them for months after that anyway!

Ooh, and another exciting thing- we're planning a trip to Vancouver for the 10th and 11th of February! That would be cool, hey?

Then, oh my God, our time in Kelowna is running out quick! Because we only have one more weekend after that, before we leave for Orleans!!! That's like, just a month left as a group in Kelowna because of the two weeks of billeting!!! Ahhh, time sure flies!!! It will be sad to leave Joanne behind, but I must admit I am completely STOKED to get out East!!!! Even though the Easterners make it sound like CRAP... I'm still excited! Milk in bags!!! Oh my Goodness! So much the East has to offer!!!

What else?? Pictures! And Happy New Year!

Okay, so there are more pictures, I think! So, let me see about posting them!

So, for New Years Eve we went to Value Village and got dress up clothes!

This is Joanne, Rob (in the plaid), me, Joelle, Alex, Jade and Annie (or Anny, we're not sure how we're going to be spelling it...)

Here is Nick and Sean. Don't they look fantastic? Here I am playing charades:
Here we are banging pots in the street to welcome the new year! 2007 rocks! This is Anny and I:
Then the boys went streaking, but I'm not posting pictures!!

And last but not least, my sexy couch picture!

So, yeah, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! This week I'm House Manager... booo. But tomorrow the new Nick is coming to help me! YESSSSS. So, yeah, that will be good.

Later!

PEACE.
