I'm Aisling. I'm a "dorkerella," on the never ending quest to be the world's greatest know-it-all. This is my story.

Snow Bunny? And other billeting stories.

So, I'm at billeting. For those of you who are unsure what that is, it is when our lovely Katima-group is all split up and put with families in the community. Or, in my case, just outside of it. My family is really great so far! There's Nathalie and Andre, and their kids Adam (8) and Arianne (6).

My first day here, we went skiing.

You can imagine how that went.

Okay, so I'm not a ski bunny, and yes, the bunny hill was terrifying, but my instructor said I was "really getting the hang of it," ...before I fell, did the splits and pulled the majority of the muscles in my legs! Mon dieu. Luckily I did think to grab Le Coolie Leg Creme de Lissa before I left home, so that was a big help today. And I did have fun through the pain! It's definitely something I would like to try again, since I am a great believer in the-first-time-is-always-the-worst-time.

Another reason I love it here: I go to bed early-ish, because the kids do, so there's not much to do after that, and then.... I sleep in late! Ahhhh, you don't appreciate sleeping in until you've been in Katimavik. Also, watching TV is... BORING! Oh my God, I should have stopped sooner! When I get back to Calgary, I am ONLY watching 'The Office,' because the rest of the shows on tele are NOT NECESSARY!!! Thanks once again to Katimavik for changing my ways. (Insert annoying poster-girl smile and thumbs up here).

Alas, the sleeping late has come to an end, however, because the drive from Westbank to Kelowna takes almost 45 minutes, which means leaving at 7.15am! At home, I often don't wake up until 7.30! And my new hours will be 8am-4pm just for the 2 weeks, so that will be alright...(instead of 8.30-4.30 like at home).

Yeahhh... I'm confusing myself with the term 'at home,' a lot lately. I mean, where is home, exactly? 'Home,' is like... Calgary, a place that I'm from, and will return to... in seven months (excluding my trip home early February, for 42 hours...). 'Home,' is also that tiny duplex where I live in Kelowna with some of my favourite people in the whole world. Which is not something I would usually say, because they often annoy me. I suppose I'm already having group withdrawl. I'll be happy to see Anny tomorrow and find out how billeting has been for her so far.

Anyway, that's all of interest for right now, I guess. I think I'll go kick back, read a magazine, and recover from the insanity that is NeoPets (which I introduced the kids to this afternoon. Wowza, such enthusiasm!!!).
